Lazy Ballerina

Lazy Ballerina are a foundation member of the Vale Cru attending the first Vale Cru Victory Event in 2008.

Launched in 2004, Lazy Ballerina Wines are made by James Hook, with the help of his wife Miriam Bourne.

In a short space of time they have won Gold Medals, rave reviews and a big reputation. Their cellar door is considered one of the best going round.

James is now recognized as one of the most dynamic innovators in the industry.

James wrote his first paper on grape growing when he was 15 - a treaty on the grape disease 'Downy Mildew' after which the rest of his life was fixed.

Now a viticulturist by trade, James is one of the ‘go to people’ McLaren Vale wine community through his business DJ’s Growers. James covers all aspects of grape growing whether is it sustainable farming, organics, bio-dynamics, irrigation, grape diseases or new varieties you can ask James his thoughts for an overview of what is happening.

The Lazy Ballerina wine range, named after a type of vineyard trellis, is a natural progression of his grape work.
